Pittsburgh Panthers – (ACC) Atlantic Coast Conference
The Pittsburg Panthers competes in the Football Bowl subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The team known as “Pit” has been playing big time football since 1890 and in the ACC since 2013 season. Pitt has won 9 national championships and is in the top 20 college football programs in terms of all-time wins, has played in 32 Bowl games. The Panthers have garnered 90 All American honors and have had almost 300 players selected in the NFL draft. Chief rivalries are with West Virginia, Penn State and Notre Dame.
Pitt plays home games at Heinz Field which they share with the NFL Pittsburgh Steelers. The modern stadium opened in 2001 and seats 68,400. There is 12,000 tons of steel in the design and lots of glass that overlook over the surrounding area. Check out the large Great Hall which features Steelers and Panthers memorabilia. Enjoy the Pitt band and the many traditions that make this a first-class college game day experience.
