The Oakland Athletics aka the A’s play Major League Baseball (MLB) in the American League (AL) East Division. The A’s left Philadelphia for Kansas City in 1955 before moving to Oakland in 1968. This small market team has enjoyed considerable success over the years winning 16 division titles, 6 AL pennants and 4 World Series championships in Oakland including 3 in a row from 1972 to 1974. Past owner Charlie Finley was a flamboyant and shrewd businessman who helped establish the A’s as a competitive team year in and year out.
