Louisville Cardinals – (ACC) Atlantic Coast Conference
The Louisville Cardinals play in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and compete in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Like ACC Duke basketball is a bigger draw but the Cardinals football program has been consistently good over the years. The Cardinals have won over 500 games been in over 20 Bowl games and have produced almost 100 All Americans and many pros. Chief rivals are Kentucky, Cincinnati and Memphis. A former member of the Big East they joined the ACC in 2014.
The Cardinals plays home games at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Prior to that the team played its games at Cardinal Stadium. The stadium built in 1998 underwent a major renovation prior to the 2010 season. It features an elevated south-end terrace connecting the east and west sides of the stadium, 33 additional suites, 1,725 additional club seats, a second 100-yard-long club room, and 13,000 more chairback seats. Total capacity is 55,000. Plenty of premium choices, a great game day atmosphere with the Card March of players and coaches before every game and a 15 time National Champion cheerleading squad leading the chants.
