Houston Astros – American League West
The Houston Astros play Major League Baseball (MLB) in the American League (AL) West Division. The Astros moved to the division in 2013 after spending their first 51 seasons in the National League (NL). Originally called the Houston Colt .45s the team entered the National League in 1962 with the expansion New York Mets. The name Astros comes from Houston being the hub of the USA’s space program. The Astros have played in 1 World Series in 2005 against the White Sox.
