The Florida Gators football team plays in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the East Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They have played in forty bowl games; won three national championships (1996, 2006 and 2008) and eight Southeastern Conference championships (1991, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2006 and 2008), and produced eighty-nine first-team All-Americans, forty-six National Football League (NFL) first-round draft choices, and three Heisman Trophy winners. This impressive program is a serious contender to reach the BCS bowl games every year.
The Gators play their home games in Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The filed is nicknamed “the swamp” and is on the university’s Gainesville campus. Florida has many rivalries but the biggest game is versus in-state rival the Florida State Seminoles. The teams usually play the last game of the regular season.
